The motifs, one by one

  • Double half-rhombus and empty half-rhombus interlock around the lid in a crown of triangles.
  • Double rhombus and empty rhombus form a band of diamonds around the body, drawn with a follower, the bold line.
  • Chain with beads encircles the neck in alternating colour, punctuated by fine points.
  • Net with beads and fields of red bullets add depth, while the almonds and eyes chain traces the spout and borders.
  • Veined flower radiates across the decoration: the sunflower itself, rendered in the geometry of Moroccan ornament.
